Support Of Accelerated Research for Niemann-Pick C, or SOAR-NPC, was created by parents and scientists as a grassroots response to the absence of treatments for this terminal disease.

The number one goal of SOAR-NPC is to work as quickly as possible to find evidence-based treatments and ultimately a cure for Niemann-Pick Type C disease, a rare neurological illness.

SOAR scientists are internationally recognized in NPC research from institutions including Washington University in St. Louis, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and University of Pennsylvania.  SOAR family foundations are dedicated to raising money and awareness to combat this deadly disease.

Building on the success of last year, Freedom High School Drama 2 class is excited to perform again at the ArtsQuest Center.
At the showcase, students in 11th-12th grades, under the direction of Freedom High School Drama Director and Teacher Jennifer Wescoe, will perform a variety of theatrical pieces including including scene excerpts from Brighton Beach Memoirs, A Raisin in the Sun, and Marvin’s Room. They will also perform a one-act play entitled Check Please, written by Johnathan Rand, in addition to an original piece written by senior Adam Recke called “Adam Says.”
Students from the school’s MotivatedByVision Improv Troupe will come together for another performance of The Harold, the long-form improv style used by comedy groups around the globe. Developed by actor, writer and teacher Del Close, The Harold is still used today by renowned troupes including Chicago’s iO Theater and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre.
Adjudicators for this event include award-winning actor/director Lynnie Godfrey, actor/director Chip Rohrbach, and producer Qbah Fernandez.
